About Me

My name is Marina Cummiskey, and I was born and raised on Kodiak Island, Alaska. With the mountains and ocean as my backyard, I love all things outdoors; my summers have been filled with kayaking and hiking, my winters with skating and bonfires. Growing up in a small, close-knit community has given me amazing opportunities and a valuable perspective on life, both mine and people’s around the world. And I’m excited to see and learn as much as I can. For the year of 2018, I will be volunteering in Ghana as a student journalism intern on a health project, and returning home to Kodiak for the summer before flying off to Vancouver, BC to study communications at Simon Fraser University. After that, who knows? I have a love for photography and film, for discovering stories I think are worth sharing, for doing all I can to empower those around me. I’ve started this website primarily as a blog for my travels, but I hope it evolves to serve as a sort of portfolio for my current and future projects. Bear with me through the first couple weeks (months?) as I figure out this whole website designing deal, I hope you enjoy seeing what I’m up to!

Cheers,

Marina
