Here we go! I think this new website is finally functional to serve as a blog for my spring travels to Ghana, and eventually grow to become a more comprehensive portfolio as I continue to play with photography and film on my adventures. My past few weeks here in Vancouver have been packed with learning how to design and organize this site, so unfortunately I don’t have much new content as of yet, but that is soon to come! In the meantime I’ve patched up the gaps with some of my most recent projects to give you a sense of my past work and to fill up the site so it doesn’t start out too empty. I did manage to snap a couple pictures here to try out some new photography toys, so those are up alongside a little post about my time in the big city.
For the most part, my website is (hopefully) pretty straightforward, but I thought I’d give you all a little introduction to explain how I’m organizing my photos and posts. Everything you see on the home page is any new activity, going from most to least recent as you scroll down. All the photo galleries I upload will be stored in “Portfolio” along the top menu, and all my written posts in “Posts”, and sometimes further categorized within that page. I plan on linking larger projects, such as galleries or films, inside related posts; these links will take you to a different page or platform dedicated to that piece of work. I’m hoping this will make it easy for you to find the sort of content you are looking for; for example, if you’re particularly following my time in Ghana, you can find all related posts under Posts > Travel > Ghana. I’m sure this will all evolve as I upload more content, but I plan on keeping the structure around what it is now.
I also have a few other platforms to supplement this website and provide ways of seeing pictures and getting updates. I am linking and describing them all in this post; however, you can always find them by clicking the social link icons in the footer. My Flickr will host all of the pictures I take (more than I will upload here), my Instagram will briefly highlight some of my adventures, and I am using my YouTube channel to show any short films I may create. I traded a logo design for some essay editing help with my sister (who obviously got all the artistic ability in the family and then some), so her incredible artwork will be a familiar sight linking all my platforms together.
I think that’s about it…thank you for your interest in my travels/work, and I promise to get as much content up here as I can. All the best,
Marina
