There is no denying that our little island of Kodiak shines with natural beauty. The lucky people who get to live here are blessed with the sights of powerful ridge-lines, stretching beaches, and radiant sunrises…when it’s not raining. But quite honestly, the color of Woman’s Bay on a gloomy, overcast ride to town is one of my favorite things. There’s something indescribable about the tint of the water; you can never decide whether it’s more grey, or green, or blue. And thanks to Kodiak weather, I get to see that on the majority of my trips to town. However, those dreary days get lost in the back of your mind when the sun decides to shine, and the whole island picks up and heads outside to play. It’s hard to not appreciate the picturesque landscapes of Kodiak on those days, and after a while away from home, it’s easy to not take any of our island for granted.
Here’s some pictures from a few beautiful trips out the road to Surfer’s Beach and Marin Ridge over the past few months. These are the days where I find myself taking the same photos over and over, because each time I look again I have to try to capture the scene. And now these are the pictures I’m living vicariously through to transport myself back home.
